Minis Edit

The second season had double the episodes ordered for the show, with an average of 2.22 million viewers streaming. ETV then renewed the show for a third season, and stated that thanks to the continued success of the show that some members of the graduating cast of Degrassi would join the new television-made Doctor Degrassi spin-off. This decision also led to the lowering of Degrassi episodes from 28 to 20, and the removal of Degrassi Minis.

Development Edit

On August 19, 2019, ETV confirmed that the older class would graduate in Season 5, a move which therefore meant they would leave the show at the end of the next season.[24][25] However, despite the announcement of graduating, it is not expected that all cast members would leave the show as some characters may be held back.[26][27][28] After the conclusion of the Doctor Degrassi mini-series, ETV ordered a made-for-television series of 13 episodes set to air in 2021.[29][30] This unexpected move was a game changer meaning that the majority of graduating cast members would reprise their role in the sci-fi spin-off, but would ultimately ruin any chances of college episodes.[31][32]
